The American Homefront
Support for the WarThe American Home front consisted of actions from regular citizens of the US to fund the war and help support American soldiers. World War II was a total war, therefore a majority of the resources from the US had to be used, the American public had some limitations on what they could use, for example, the American citizens had rations, they got a rations booklet every so often, and they used the ration coupons to buy food, butter and sugar for example, and each person had a fixed amount. The US government was able to get the Public on board with this because of propaganda. Propaganda is the use of media to try and control public opinion. Aside from the rations, propaganda was also used to encourage the use of victory gardens, these gardens where planted by families in the US, the gardens were planted to prevent food shortages and also to make sure that the US had enough food for the American soldiers fighting around the world.

Japanese People in the USLife for citizens of Japanese descent was terrible in the US at the of the war. Because the US was at war with Japan, racism towards Japanese people rose, US born of Japanese descent were known as Nisei, and foreign born of Japanese descent were known as Issei. 10 weeks after Pearl Harbor, executive order 9066 was passed, it required evacuation from western defense command of "all persons who might pose a threat to the security of the US". Japanese people or Asians who they thought were Japanese were put into camps. Later in 1943 there was a supreme court case, Korematsu v. The US, Korematsu argued that the Order violated his civil rights, but the supreme court ruled that it was not based on race, but instead out of need of military urgency.
