Hirohito
Rise to PowerHirohito was born into power as the eldest son of the emperor Taishō. He became emperor after his father's death in 1962. The Japanese government and the Shinto religion were very entangled, so the emperor of Japan was regarded as a Living God, therefore every Japanese citizen was loyal to the emperor.
Once in Power during WWIIDuring the great depression there was a big rise in militaristic leaders in Japanese government. In 1933 Japan pulls out of the League of Nations. In 1936 Japan allies itself with Germany in order to prepare for war. In 1937 Japan invades China and in 1940 Japan plans to take over Asia and liberate them from the power of European and American Imperialists. In 1939 Japan joins forces with the Germans and Italians in the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis. In 1941 Japan knows that they would eventually have to confront the US, so Japan decided to attack the main US naval force in the Pacific at Pearl Harbor on December 7. The war ended in the pacific when Japan surrendered after the 2 atomic bombs, Little Boy and Fat Man were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. After the war the monarchy remained but it had no political power and was only a symbol of the state, all the political power went to elected representatives.
